Messages 

Year 6 had a wonderful time visiting and performing in the church this week – thank you for your continued support with these events.  Year 6 also enjoyed their Christmas party and their Christmas lunch.  We all ate as a year group around a HUGE Christmas dinner table!  

Important Dates for Term 3 

• Monday 5th January – Everyone back to school at the usual time   

• Friday 6th February – NSPCC number day (Reception and KS1 children to come in dressed in number themed clothes/KS2 to come in dressed as a Times Table Rock Star)  

• 12th January – Year 5 and 6 TTRS Battle begins this week! 

• Friday 6th February – KS2 Countdown assembly at 9am (parents of year group house winners to be invited)  

• Monday 9th February – Year 6 to visit Margate Mosque 

• Tuesday 10th February – Safer internet day  

• Friday 13th February – Non-school uniform day 

English 

Our new book in Term 3 will be Leon and the Place Between by Angela McAllister.  The children will explore the text, imagery, descriptions and feelings.   

Maths 

We will start term 3 by looking at converting (miles and kilometres).  We revisit previously taught maths skills as part of our ongoing retrieval practice.   

PSHE and Thematic 

We will start Term 3 focusing on PSHE in our afternoon lessons – Champions of Courage.  The Year 6 Champion of Courage is Marcus Rashford.  Our Term 3 thematic topic will be called: How to mind your heart.  We will focus on science and the human body as well as design technology where we look at nutrition and what foods are good for our bodies.
