Children at Chilton Primary enjoyed a Christmas cracker of a festive season.

A packed programme of activities and events made sure that there were magical memories being created for all year groups, staff and families.

The fun began with a festive fair with a range of stalls, together with games and tasty treats. The popular event raised more than £2000 for school funds.

In keeping with the school’s strong community spirit, the junior leadership team members delivered Christmas cards to their local neighbours.

Chilton has a long tradition of nativity plays for younger children and this year there were sparkling performances by Reception pupils who performed their version of The Jolly Christmas Postman, while Year 1 staged The Christmas Toys. Year 2’s festive offering was called simply The Nativity.

Older year groups gave wonderful festive performances at St Laurence Church including songs and poems, with readings of winter setting descriptions.

There was a special treat for Year 2 and Year 3 pupils who travelled to St Lawrence College in Ramsgate to watch knockabout fun in the annual pantomime.

Christmas Dinner Day saw the whole school enjoy a super tasty slap-up meal with all the trimmings, while Christmas jumper day saw children and staff in their finest colourful tops.

Deputy Head of School Hannah Cheshire said: “It has been an incredible festive period at Chilton - a time when our community really comes together.

“The children all performed so well in their various shows and recitals and their singing talents and oracy skills shone through. It was a perfect end to a busy and successful term.

“We'd like to thank all our families for their support for Chilton and wish them a very Merry Christmas.”

Chilton Primary is part of the Viking Academy trust with partner schools Ramsgate Arts Primary and Upton Junior.
