English

Our new book in Term 3 is Leon and the Place Between by Angela McAllister.  This week, the children explored the book's images and spent time describing the outside and inside the book’s circus tent.  The children also experienced a magic show performed by Mr Oxlely and used their art skills to recreate the circus tent!

Maths

This week, the children spent time converting units of measure (mm, cm, m, km; ml and l; g, kg, t) using their knowledge of multiplying and dividing by 10,100 and 1000. They also learnt how to convert miles to kilometres.

PSHE in the afternoon

We have started Term 3 focusing on PSHE in our afternoon lessons.  This term is - Champions of Courage.  The Year 6 Champion of Courage is Marcus Rashford.  We discussed why Marcus is our Champion of Courage and what he petitioned for and successfully achieved to help children.

Marcus Rashford is a British footballer who used his voice to campaign for free school meals for children in need. His actions changed government decisions and helped many families. We spent some time discussing: what is inequality? Why was Marcus brave to speak up? What problems do children face today? How can we make a difference in our community?
