Weekly News – 09.01.26

We have had a fantastic start to Term 3! We have started reading one of our books for this term, Into the Forest by Anthony Browne. We have learned all about our Champion of Courage, Dame Kelly Holmes, and why she is so courageous and brave.
Maths
In Maths this week, we have been partitioning numbers in a variety of ways using the part–part–whole model. We have also been comparing and ordering numbers to 1,000. Next week, we will be learning to add three-digit numbers without regrouping.
English
This week in English, we have started our new book, Into the Forest. We have been learning to vary our sentence types, using conjunctions and prepositions to describe a setting. Next week, we will be writing a character description.
Thematic
In PSHE this week, we have been learning all about Dame Kelly Holmes. She is our Champion of Courage. We have learnt that, despite having multiple injuries, she did not give up on her dream of being an Olympic runner, going on to win two gold medals.
Next week, we will start our new thematic learning, How My Body Works. We will begin this unit of learning by learning that animals, including humans, need the right types and amounts of nutrition, and that they cannot make their own food; they get nutrition from what they eat.
Home Learning
This week, we would like you to find out what a balanced diet is. You can choose how you present what you find out. Please bring this in for Thursday 15th January, as we would like to use this in our thematic lesson
