Weekly News –02.03.26

Another outstanding week of learning in Year 3!
Maths
This week in Maths, we developed our multiplication skills by learning how to use the grid method and short multiplication. We worked hard to break numbers into parts and organise our calculations clearly, helping us understand how multiplication works step by step. Next week, we will move on to division, where we will be focusing on sharing and grouping.
English
This week in English, we have been writing character descriptions of the Saucepan Man. We focused on using expanded noun phrases to add more detail, as well as exciting verbs and adverbs to make our writing more interesting and engaging for the reader. Next week, we will be writing a setting description. We will be focusing on using fronted adverbials and powerful adjectives to help create sensory descriptions, allowing the reader to clearly imagine the setting through sights, sounds, and feelings.
Thematic
In Thematic this week, we have been exploring maps to identify the counties of England and locate important Roman sites. This helped us to understand where key historical places are and how the Romans were connected to different parts of Britain.
Next week, we will be discovering facts about the Celts who lived in Britain before the Romans arrived. We will then move on to learn about the Roman invasion of Britain, including Julius Caesar’s attempt to invade in 55–54 BC. To support our learning, we will create a timeline of key events to help us understand the chronology of Roman rule in Britain.
