Weekly News –16.03.26

This week Year 3 have completed lots of exciting learning, we acted out building Hadrian’s Wall, explored a variety of goodies to help us write our setting descriptions and in Art, designed a printing tile inspired by our local area.
Maths
This week in Maths, we have been developing our understanding of statistics by collecting, presenting and interpreting data in tables. We have worked hard to read information carefully and answer both one-step and two-step questions, thinking about what the data is really telling us. Next week, we will be moving on to money. We will be developing our skills in adding and subtracting amounts, as well as calculating change. This is a really important life skill, and we are looking forward to applying our Maths to real-life situations
English
This week in English, we have continued developing our setting descriptions. We have focused on using fronted adverbials, exciting adjectives and adding personification to make our writing more vivid and engaging. Next week, we will be writing in role as characters from The Magic Faraway Tree. We will be creating diary entries, thinking carefully about how characters feel, what they experience and how to write in the first person.
Thematic
This week in Thematic we learnt more about Hadrian’s Wall and why it was built. We have also looked at how the Roman’s have made an impact on life today. We also learnt the story of Boudica. Next week in Thematic we will have our Year 3 Roman Day, we will be learning about Roman clothes, Roman Numerals and we will be making our own Lararium.

Home Learning
For home learning this week, we would love you to think about our Art learning this term and explore the skill of printing using everyday materials. You could use items such as sponges, leaves, string or even vegetables to create different patterns, shapes and textures. Have fun experimenting with colours and see if you can repeat a pattern to make your own design. You might choose to create something like a piece of wrapping paper, a bookmark or a decorative picture.
