Chilton’s Fundraising ‘Day of Daftness’

Hundreds of children Chilton Primary in Ramsgate wore the biggest smiles on Red Nose Day.
Pupils embraced the ‘day of daftness’ to support the annual extravaganza by Comic Relief.
Swapping school uniforms for colourful and creative costumes in exchange for a donation to help the needy, youngsters ensured the special day was all about fun and laughter.
An amazing amount of £300 was raised thanks to the generosity of families who have supported the charity event again this year.
An array of different characters and styles in outrageously flamboyant outfits could be seen in every classroom, corridor and playground.
Wonderful wigs and hats, marvellous makeup, and a rainbow of tee shirts and tops were on display ranging from a human banana to crazy clowns and so many more.
Deputy Head of School Hannah Cheshire said: “What a fantastic turn out – it was a cavalcade of colourful and creative costumes at every turn.
“Once again our children and families were determined to show full support for this extremely worthwhile charity’s annual showpiece – and they did it in magnificent style.
“We thank them for their extraordinary efforts and to all our staff for enabling a really memorable event for us all.”
The Comic Relief website states: “It's not just about getting the laughs - it’s about doing something laugh-changing. It’s money for the unfunny stuff we take for granted like food, shelter, not living in fear.
“For millions of people, the foundations that should be guaranteed in life are no longer there, and in the UK and across the world people are suffering hunger, homelessness and harm.
“This Red Nose Day, money raised will help people access food, shelter and safety– the vital essentials everyone needs to survive.
“Eat. Sleep. Feel safe. That's what your silliness helps provide.”
