Chilton Primary School

One Childhood, One Chance

Head's Up 2nd April 2026

Dear Families,

As we reach the end of another fantastic term at Chilton, it is the perfect moment to look back and celebrate the many exciting experiences that have filled our school with joy, enthusiasm and unforgettable memories.

Our youngest learners in Reception had a wonderful trip to the farm, where they met a range of animals and even had the opportunity to feed them — an experience that brought learning to life and created plenty of smiles along the way.

Year 1 enjoyed a brilliant visit to Manor House Forest School, embracing outdoor learning as they learnt how to toast marshmallows safely over a fire and proudly created their own wooden jewellery. It was a fantastic day of teamwork, independence and adventure.

Meanwhile, Year 3 visited the cinema to watch The Magic Faraway Tree, the very story they have been exploring in class, helping deepen their understanding and excitement for reading. They also stepped back in time during their Roman dress-up day, which was filled with creativity and historical discovery. Our older pupils fully embraced history too, with Year 5 enjoying their Greek-themed day and Year 6 experiencing life as WWII evacuees — costumes, learning and enthusiasm were outstanding across the school.

One of the biggest highlights of the term was our incredible World Book Day celebration. The excitement around reading was truly special, made even more memorable when Chilton received a shout-out from Michael Rosen himself — a moment we will not forget anytime soon!

We would also like to congratulate all of the children who took part in The Speaker competition. A special well done to Jason, Joshua and Avie, who proudly brought home trophies with one second-place and two third-place finishes. We are super proud of their confidence, courage and achievement.

Yesterday’s Easter Bonnet Parade was the perfect way to end the term. The creativity on display was amazing — from imaginative designs to colourful creations — and it truly was an Easter extravaganza enjoyed by all.

This term, like every term at Chilton, has been full of excitement, opportunity and joy. Now we look ahead to next term, which is already shaping up to be one that no one will want to miss!

We wish all our families a wonderful and restful Easter break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on 20th April.

Warmest wishes,
Mr McAuley
