Weekly News –11.05.26

This week Year 3 have enjoyed learning about primary and secondary sources, the Conquistadors in Thematic, as well as having a go at our Problem Solving skill, trial and improvement, in maths.
Maths
This week in Maths, we have been developing our understanding of measuring and scaling problems. We have also been solving a range of multiplication problems, including missing number problems, which have helped us to think carefully about the relationship between numbers. Next week, we will be moving on to sharing problems. We will look at problems where items are shared equally. We will also begin to use our knowledge of fractions to solve sharing problems. This will help us to build confidence with division and fractions in practical contexts.
English
In English this week, we have been writing setting descriptions, focusing on using effective verbs and adverbs to make our writing more detailed and interesting. We have thought carefully about how our word choices can help the reader picture the setting more clearly, and we have also spent time editing and improving our work. Next week, we will be focusing on using speech and action in our writing, looking at how dialogue can help bring characters to life and how actions can show what a character is thinking or feeling.
Thematic
This week in Thematic, we have been looking at the Mayan writing system, as well as exploring a range of different sources to find out more about the Conquistadores. Next week, we will complete our RE learning for the term. We will be thinking about why the Bible is important to Christians and how the Bible is used in Christian homes
