One Childhood, One Chance

Head's Up 15th May 2026

Dear Families,

Thank you for your continued engagement and support this week. It has certainly been a very busy one — but one filled with success, pride and celebration across the school.

Our Year 6 children have demonstrated incredible resilience and knowledge as they completed their SATs. As I shared last week, these tests do not define our children. What has truly defined them over the past few days has been their courage, determination and maturity. We are immensely proud of the way they approached each day with calm focus and positivity. They are now enjoying a very well-deserved trip to London, taking in the sights from the London Eye and enjoying a river boat cruise along the Thames — a fantastic reward for a fantastic group of young people.

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome our Year 5 families into school to learn more about next year’s Year 6 residential trip to Carroty Wood. This will be our first residential for a number of years and the excitement from both staff and children is already building. The opportunities for go-kart racing, abseiling, archery and so much more — all within a purpose-built centre led by highly trained staff — are sure to make this a highlight of every child’s time at Chilton, whether that be next year or for many years to come.

Next week promises to be another action-packed one!

  • Monday: Viking Games for Years 5 & 6 at Upton Junior School (children travelling by train)

  • Tuesday: Viking Games for Years 3 & 4 at Upton Junior School (children travelling by train)

  • Wednesday: Key Stage 1 Viking Games here at Chilton

    • Also on Wednesday, Year 4 will be performing their class assembly at 2:50pm

  • Thursday: Reception take a trip to RAPs for their very first Viking Games experience (Children travlling by minibus)

  • Friday: Dress to Impress and parade

We finish the week on Friday with our much-anticipated ‘Dress to Impress’ day as part of our Be Here, Be You, Belong unit of work, followed by our parade — which promises to be another spectacular celebration of individuality and belonging.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend and we look forward to welcoming the children back for another week full of fun, energy and memorable experiences.

Warm regards,
Mr McAuley
