Maths
This week in Maths, we have been learning all about money. We practised adding and subtracting amounts of money using the column method and worked hard to make sure our decimal points were lined up correctly. We also estimated different amounts of money and discussed sensible answers. To finish the week, we compared amounts of money using greater than, less than and equal to symbols. The children showed excellent problem-solving skills and growing confidence when working with money.
English
In English, we have continued reading a range of tales from Tales of Wisdom and Wonder. The children explored the characters, themes and morals within the stories and used these as inspiration for their own writing. We focused on using expanded noun phrases, powerful verbs and adverbs to make our writing more interesting. We also practised writing compound and complex sentences to improve the flow and detail of our work.
Thematic
In Thematic learning, we completed our Water World unit. The children carried out an exciting experiment involving evaporation and condensation and enjoyed observing the changes that took place. We also learnt about the water cycle, drawing our own diagrams and explaining each stage, including evaporation, condensation and precipitation. The class worked very hard and showed a great understanding of how water moves around our planet.
Spellings
There are no spellings this week as we will be practising for our class assembly on Wednesday.
Love to Learn
For this week’s home learning task we would like you to explain the difference between a solid liquid and a gas. You can create a poster or a piece of writing explaining the difference and how different states of matter can change. For example, liquids when frozen turn to solids etc. Give lots of examples!

TTRS PASSWORDS HAVE BEEN CHANGED. Your child’s password is now their first name (all in lower case). If there are 2 children with the same name in a class the children have their name plus their initial e.g. if they were called Joe Green their password would be joeg.
