One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News –15.06.26

What a fantastic week it has been in Year 3! This week has been a very exciting one as we had our Computing Day, where we learnt how to use the programming software Scratch for the very first time.

Next week, we have class photos on Wednesday and on Friday non-school uniform in exchange for a bottle for the tombola at the Summer Fair.

Maths

This week in Maths, we have been converting between different units of measure, exploring length, mass and capacity. It has been a great opportunity to make connections between our Maths learning and everyday life, we have worked really hard to develop our understanding of how different units relate to one another. Next week, we will be using multiplication and division to scale by integers, building on our existing knowledge of these operations.

English

This week in English, we have been focusing on punctuating direct speech correctly and learning how to weave speech and description together in our writing. We have been working hard to bring our characters and stories to life, thinking carefully about weaving speech and description to make our writing more engaging and exciting.

Thematic

This week in Thematic, we have been exploring the impact of deforestation and the effects it can have on habitats. Alongside this, we have been looking at the differences between plants, creating detailed observational drawings and conducting a scientific investigation. Next week, we will be investigating the different parts of a plant, learning about how seeds are dispersed, and exploring pollination and seed formation.

Class Assembly

On Monday, the children will come home with their lines for our Year 3 Assembly on Thursday 9th July. Attached to the lines  is a slip of paper with the outfit we would like them to wear if possible. Please can their outfits come into school in a named bag by Monday 6th July.
