Dear Families,

What an exceptionally busy and memorable week it has been here at Chilton Primary School! As we edge ever closer to the end of another fantastic school year, the calendar seems to get fuller by the day, and I would like to begin by thanking each and every one of you for your continued support and participation in school life. It really does make such a difference to our children and our wider school community.

This week, many of our Year 6 children have been attending transition days at their new secondary schools. These visits are always filled with a wonderful mix of excitement and anticipation as they begin thinking about the adventures that lie ahead in September. At the same time, there is an understandable sense of emotion for all of us. Some of these children have been part of the Chilton family for up to seven years, and it is impossible not to reflect on how much they have grown during their time with us. While we are incredibly proud of the young people they have become, saying goodbye is never easy.

Our Come Dine picnics have continued throughout the week and have once again been a tremendous success. It has been lovely to see so many families joining us to enjoy lunchtime together, and I would like to thank everyone who has attended. Yesterday afternoon, our Year 1 children absolutely blew us away with their fantastic class assembly. Their confidence, enthusiasm and smiles lit up the hall, and they should all be incredibly proud of themselves.

The highlight of the week, however, simply has to be our Music Evening. What an incredible celebration of talent! A huge thank you to Mr Redwood and Mr Coney for organising such a wonderful event. We were also delighted to welcome Ms Taylor, our new drumming teacher, whose contribution added an exciting new dimension to the evening. The addition of the drumming performances brought something truly special to what was already a spectacular showcase of musical talent. Most importantly, a huge congratulations to every single child who performed. Standing up in front of an audience takes courage, and you represented yourselves and our school brilliantly.

Looking ahead to next week, there is certainly no slowing down! We will conclude our Come Dine picnics with our Year 4 and Year 5 families, and we look forward to welcoming you into school.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, our Year 6 children will perform their 2026 production for their families. This annual tradition is always a spectacular event, full of laughter, music, memories and, inevitably, a few emotional moments as we celebrate the end of their primary school journey. We cannot wait to see them take to the stage.

We also have our Sports Days taking place on Thursday and Friday morning. As many of you will remember, we have moved these events to the morning this year following the very hot afternoons we experienced over the last couple of years. We are aware that the weather forecasts remain mixed, with some suggesting another spell of warmer weather next week. At the time of writing, temperatures do not appear to be too excessive, but as always, we will monitor conditions carefully and make any adjustments necessary to ensure everyone remains safe and comfortable.

Thank you once again for another fantastic week. Your support, encouragement and involvement help make Chilton such a special place to learn and grow.
