Chilton Primary School

One Childhood, One Chance

Heads Up 11th September 2026

Dear Families,

I hope you have all had a wonderful summer break and managed to enjoy some quality time together. It has been fantastic to welcome everyone back to Chilton this week!

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our children and families for returning to school with such enthusiasm and positivity. It has been a remarkably calm and focused transition back into school life, and the children have settled incredibly quickly. Walking around the school this week, there has been a real sense of purpose, excitement and happiness – exactly how we want a new school year to begin.

I would also like to extend an especially warm welcome to all of our new Reception children and families who have joined the Chilton community. Our Reception children have made a wonderful start to their time with us, and we are already loving getting to know their individual personalities and seeing what they are adding to the fabric of Chilton. We hope this is the beginning of seven very happy and successful years with us!

Thursday was also a momentous day for our Year 6 children, as they completed the Kent Test. This is always a significant and, understandably, sometimes stressful occasion for children and families. We were incredibly proud of the way our Year 6 pupils approached the day. They conducted themselves impeccably, showed maturity and resilience, and gave it their very best. Whatever the outcome, they should all feel extremely proud of themselves.

Next week brings another big milestone for Year 6 as they head off to Carroty Wood for an adventurous week of teamwork, challenge and, most importantly, lots of fun!

This will be Chilton’s first longer residential for a number of years, and we are incredibly excited about it. We want this adventurous finale to primary school to become one of the highlights of children’s time at Chilton for many years to come.

Wherever your child currently is on their Chilton journey, we hope that experiences such as our short residential trip to France in Year 5, followed by a longer adventure residential in Year 6, will become memorable milestones that children look forward to as they progress through the school. These are the experiences that build confidence, independence, friendships and memories that can last long beyond their primary school years.

Thank you once again to all of our families for helping us to have such a wonderful first week back. It has been a brilliant start to the new academic year.

And finally, to our Year 6 children – have a fantastic time at Carroty Wood next week! Be brave, challenge yourselves, support one another and enjoy every moment of the adventure!

Have a wonderful weekend.
