Chilton Primary’s Class of 2026 is having the time of its life during the first weeks of term. 

The new intake of children into the Reception group have made “a fantastic start to their school journey” said Early Years Foundation Stage lead Kirby Walker. 

She added: “They have been settling into their classrooms, getting to know their teachers and making new friends as they begin this exciting chapter of their education. 

“Although starting school can feel like a big step for young children and their families, the new cohort has shown great enthusiasm, curiosity and resilience as they become familiar with their new surroundings and routines.” 

From exploring the classroom and outdoor areas to enjoying stories, creative activities, phonics, maths and plenty of opportunities for play, the children have already been busy developing their confidence and independence. 

Mrs Walker added: “We are incredibly proud of how well our Class of 2026 are doing. 

“They have approached their first few weeks with such enthusiasm and are already becoming familiar faces around school. It has been wonderful to see friendships beginning to develop, confidence growing and children becoming increasingly independent.” 

The school is also grateful to parents and carers for their support in helping the children make such a positive start.  

Head Teacher Alex McAuley said: “Starting school is a significant milestone for families, and the partnership between home and school is an important part of helping children feel happy, safe and ready to learn. 

“As the term continues, our Reception group will have many more opportunities to explore, discover and learn together, building the foundations for a successful and enjoyable Chilton experience.”
