Dear Families,

It has been another wonderful week at Chilton, although I have to say, Chilton hasn’t felt quite right this week! We have been very much missing our amazing Year 6 children, who have been away having their own adventures at Carroty Wood.

I always miss our children when they are away from school, and I have certainly missed our Year 6s terribly this week! However, seeing the incredible time they have had has made it completely worthwhile. They have challenged themselves, supported one another, laughed an enormous amount and made memories together that I hope will stay with them for many years to come.

I am sure many of you have been keeping up with their adventures through our Facebook page. If you haven’t, do take a look — they have had enormous fun! This residential is something we want to become an essential part of the Chilton journey, giving our children the opportunity to experience adventure, independence and challenge together.

At Chilton, we have always believed passionately in developing the whole child. Academic success is incredibly important to us, but so too are the experiences that help our children grow in confidence, develop their character, discover new interests and build memories of primary school that last a lifetime. Our Year 6 residential has been a wonderful example of exactly that.

And the adventures continue next week! Our Year 1 children will be heading out on a local area walk to Nethercourt Park as part of their learning about trees. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a fantastic variety of trees right on our doorstep, and it will be wonderful for the children to take their learning beyond the classroom and explore their local environment.

It has been a fantastic week across the rest of the school too. Thank you, as always, for being so supportive, positive and engaged with our school community. Chilton is a very special place because of the children, staff and families who make up our community, and your support is a huge part of that.
