Important Dates and information:  

8th October - Harvest Festival for Year 4 at 9am and year 5 and 6 at 2.45pm  

9th October – Mrs Rowland-Hill will give a talk to Year 6 parents about the secondary application process in the Main Hall at 2:45pm.  This talk will also be videoed and sent to parents. 

15th October – Kent Test Results out to parents  

23rd October – Halloween Disco – All children come to school in fancy dress. Year 1, 2 and 3 Disco from 2pm-3pm and year 4, 5 and 6 disco from 3.15-4.15  

23rd October – Final day of term  

Home Learning

English 

The children started the week spending time drawing the cathedral from the book Floodland. We then moved on to learning about prepositional phrases and incorporated that into a setting description of the outside and the inside of the cathedral.  Their writing focus was to include ambitious vocabulary, expanded noun phrases, prepositional phrases and figurative language.  

Maths 

This week the children looked at numbers up to 1 million and spent time ordering and comparing them. They then moved on to decimals and ordered and compared them, and we then finished the week looking at positive and negative numbers.    

Thematic 

In our Darwin's Delights topic this week the children have been looking at who Charles Darwin was and why he is so important to science today.  We also spent time plotting his HMS Beagle journey on a world map and learnt where the Equator is and what longitude and latitude lines are.
