Chilton Primary School

One Childhood, One Chance

Heads Up 16/10/26

Dear Chilton Families,

Thank you for another wonderful week at Chilton Primary School!

I have had the pleasure of seeing some truly wonderful learning across the school this week, and it fills me with enormous pride and joy to see our children enjoying their learning so much. There is something incredibly special about seeing a child experience success, recognise their own achievements and feel proud of what they have accomplished. The confidence, pride and self-respect that come from successful learning are a joy to witness, and something we want every child at Chilton to experience.

Respect – You Matter!

Talking of respect, you may have heard your children coming home talking about our particular focus on respect this week!

Respect is at the very heart of the Chilton Way. It is one of our three school rules, but it is also one of our core values, and something we place enormous importance on. We expect our children to respect one another, respect the adults around them, respect our school environment and, importantly, carry these behaviours beyond the school gates and into their everyday lives.

This week, we have spent time exploring what respect actually looks like and, perhaps more importantly, how we make others feel respected. One of the key messages we have shared with the children is that showing respect is a way of saying, "You matter." When we listen carefully, show kindness, acknowledge others and give someone our attention, we are telling them that they are important to us.

I have certainly been blown away by the response from our children! So many have been stopping what they are doing to give me their full attention, asking how my day has been, holding doors open and even asking what I am doing at the weekend! These may seem like little things, but they mean an enormous amount. Our children have certainly made me feel that I matter to them, and that they care about me just as much as I care about each and every one of them.

Of course, respect is not something we teach for just one week. It is something we model, practise and reinforce every single day. We will therefore continue this focus into next term, building on the wonderful progress we are already seeing. I hope that, like us, you are beginning to notice just how thoughtful, considerate and respectful our children are becoming. These behaviours do not happen by accident; they are the result of clear expectations, consistent modelling and a shared commitment between school and home.

Thank you, as always, for your support in helping us develop not just successful learners, but wonderful young people.

End of Term Disco!

Finally, next week brings one of our favourite events of the term – our End of Term Disco!

This is always a fantastic occasion, filled with music, dancing, laughter and plenty of excitement! We hope to see as many children there as possible, enjoying a well-deserved celebration with their friends.

As well as being great fun, our discos are also a brilliant opportunity to raise valuable funds for the school. Every penny raised helps us provide even more opportunities, experiences and resources for our children, enriching their time at Chilton and making their childhood that little bit more special.

Thank you for supporting these events and helping us continue to make Chilton such a wonderful place to learn and grow.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone!
