20th November 2020

Welcome to this week's edition of the Year 6 blog!
This week began with a BAKED BEAN BONANZA! We used the beans to investigate how dividing can be either dividing a number into groups or dividing a number by sharing it between groups. We then learned more about using the formal written method for dividing and rehearsed finding answers with whole number, decimal and fraction remainders. In English, we have looked at the link between our class text Floodland and how our world is affected by climate change. We have also continued to look at kindness in our PSHE lessons.
Next week, our learning continues in English by reading the next part of Floodland and we will be learning about how authors develop characters by using characterisation. We will be developing our writing skills by using action, dialogue and thoughts to show characterisation. In Maths, we will be using all four operations when solving word problems. These problems will have one or multiple steps. In the afternoons, we will be starting our new topic entitled Inside Out. We will leave you guessing as to what this topic is about!
Love to Learn task:
-for your love to learn task this week, you need to make a poster. This poster needs to explain how to use all four operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide). You need to explain how to use formal written methods. Think about how to make your poster informative yet eye catching.
