Year 5 Messages - , Year 5 swimming will not take place on 16th September and will recommence from the 23rd September. Please can children wear their PE kits into school on Wednesday 16th September, as they will have PE in place of swimming on this day. Thank you.
Year 6 Messages - Please find a secondary school letter posted at the bottom of the page.
Monday 7th September
Year 1 messages - As part of our thematic learning topic ‘My Home, My Town’, we are exploring how our lives and the world around us have changed over time. We would love to invite you into school to help us bring this learning to life!
Our ‘Then and Now’ Museum
On Wednesday 30th September at 1:30pm, we will be transforming our school hall into a very special ‘Then and Now’ museum.
We would love to invite parents, carers and grandparents to bring along an item from the past to share with the children. This could be an old toy, mobile phone, record, book, telephone, game, photograph or anything else that you think the children would find interesting.
The children will have the opportunity to explore the different objects and think about how they are different from the things we use today. We will discuss how and why things have changed and what these objects can tell us about life in the past.
During the afternoon, you will sit with your items around the hall, just like a museum exhibit, while the children wander around and explore the different displays. They will be encouraged to ask questions, share their ideas and talk about what they notice.
This will also be a wonderful opportunity for you to talk to your child or grandchild about the past and share memories of what life was like when you were growing up. We hope the children will enjoy hearing your stories and discovering just how different life was ‘then’ compared to ‘now’.
Date: Wednesday 30th September
Time: 1:30pm
Location: School Hall
You are very welcome to come along even if you don't have an item to bring – we would simply love for you to join us and be part of this special learning experience.
We are really looking forward to stepping back in time together and discovering ‘Then and Now’!
Thank you for your continued support,
As part of our first Year 1 topic, ‘My Home, My Town’, we will be taking the children on a local history trip to Nethercourt Park on Wednesday 23rd September.
During our visit, the children will have the opportunity to explore the park and learn more about the history of our local area. This will help bring our learning to life and allow the children to discover more about the place where they live.
We are very excited to take the children out into our local community and explore our town together!
Children do not need anything specific for this trip.
Thank you for your continued support.
Reception messages - Please find attached a leaflet with information about the Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA).
Over the next few weeks, we will carry out the assessment with each child individually. This will be done in a relaxed and child-friendly way, as part of their normal school experience.
If you have any questions or would like any further information, please speak to Mrs Walker, who will be happy to help.
Many thanks for your support.
This is a reminder that our Welcome to Reception meeting will take place on Friday 18th September at 2:30pm.
The meeting will be recorded for those who are unable to attend.
We look forward to seeing you!
Best wishes,
The Reception Team
