Chilton Primary School

One Childhood, One Chance

Head's Up 20th June 2025

Dear Families,

What a joyful and sun-filled week it’s been at Chilton! The weather has been absolutely glorious, and the bright, sunny skies seem to perfectly reflect the atmosphere across the school at the moment – full of energy, smiles, and excitement for what’s ahead.

Thank you all for your continued enthusiasm and support this week. It’s been lovely to see so many of you at events and around the school – your involvement makes such a difference to the children and the wider school community.

With the sunshine set to stay (hopefully!), we’d like to gently remind families to ensure children are coming to school with a water bottle each day to stay hydrated. Sun hats and sun cream are also strongly recommended, especially for playtimes and outdoor learning – we want everyone to enjoy the sun safely.

This week, Year 1 had the most wonderful time visiting Felderland Farm. The children explored the theme of growth and even took part in some fruit picking – a perfect way to learn more about their local environment. They came back buzzing with stories and new knowledge!

Another highlight for me was yesterday’s Reception assembly. The children performed with such confidence, joy, and energy – it was an absolute pleasure to watch and a real testament to their hard work and the support from their teachers. We are so proud of them!

Looking ahead to next week, the focus across the school turns to transition. Today, you will receive a letter informing you of your child’s class teacher for next year. This marks the beginning of our transition work, which helps to prepare all of our children for their next step in school. While this is a very exciting time, we also understand it can bring some nerves. Our extended transition period is carefully designed to ensure that all children feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward with confidence.

Also next week, the Book Fayre will return and be located in its usual spot outside the Year 5 classrooms. We look forward to seeing lots of you there – it’s always a brilliant opportunity to share in the love of reading.

Thank you again for a fantastic week. I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable weekend in the sunshine.

Warm regards,
Mr McAuley
