Chilton Primary in Ramsgate is celebrating an important milestone this month.

This new academic year marks the 50th anniversary of when the popular school first opened its doors in 1975 and welcomed its inaugural classes and families.

Chilton is holding a special get together on Thursday September 25 from 6pm to 7.30pm to commemorate the occasion and is inviting former pupils, families and staff to join together and share memories and stories.

The celebration will include tea and cakes plus displays of pictures and memorabilia past and present.

There will also be tours of the school, so guests can see how Chilton has changed since they last saw it

Pupils are creating a time capsule with class selfies and a range of contributions from each age group including diary entries of a day in the life of a Chilton pupil today, to pictures of their favourite toys. A dated daily newspaper will also be included.

The time capsule and its contents will be on display for the evening celebration and then sealed in assembly the following morning on Friday, September 26.

Head of School Alex McAuley said: “It will be a memorable occasion. Chilton is a fantastic community and we know that so many of our former pupils, families and ex-staff members hold memories of their time here dear to their hearts. They can be sure of a very warm welcome.”
