Well done to Year 5 for another amazing week to wrap up Term 5. Well done to YELLOW SAXONS who were the winners of the 2024 Viking Games.
English
This week, we finished Michelle Paver's 'Wolf Brother' with Torak making it to the Mountain of the World Spirit and defeating the Demon Bear. We completed and published our Wolf Brother alternate endings, focusing on weaving our action and our dialogue. Next term, we will split our English curriculum with two weeks studying a YouTube short and another two separate weeks looking at two romantic poems, The Highwayman and The Lady of Shalott.
Maths
In Maths this week, we have been studying Statistics, specifically reading and interpreting data in different tables. We look at how to read tables accurately before solving a range of problems using the data presented. Next term, we will revisit Geometry, Measurement and Four Operations.
Thematic
This week, we have completed our RE unit for Term 5 looking at a range of stories from the Bible including Noah's Ark, Jonah and the Whale and Joseph and his coat. We then looked in depth at the story of Ruth and Naomi and what the lessons of the story were. We also took part in the wonderful Be Here, Be You, Belong parade on Friday afternoon with the children dressing to express themselves.
Home Learning
For home learning this week, please relax, spend time with loved ones and enjoy the (hopefully good) weather.
If you have a completed sponsorship form for the Chilton Olympian, please bring it as soon as possible.
