Chilton Primary School

One Childhood, One Chance

Head's Up 16th May 2025

Dear Families,

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and engagement with Chilton and with your wonderful children. It has been such an exciting and rewarding week at school – and I know that might sound surprising during SATs week! But truly, it has been a week to remember.

huge well done to our brilliant Year 6 pupils, who approached their SATs with confidence, resilience and a sense of calm maturity that made us all immensely proud. SATs week can sometimes come with a sense of pressure or anxiety, but our children faced it with a smile and a determination that shone brightly. They’ve absolutely performed out of their skin, and it was one of those truly emotional moments for the adults who have worked with them, some for seven years now, to watch them tackle these national tests with such self-belief and competence.

To every single Year 6 child – you have been phenomenal. We are so proud of all that you have achieved.

And to our Year 6 families, thank you for the incredible support you’ve shown this week: getting children in on time for breakfast, helping to manage their wellbeing, and cheering them on from home. It makes such a difference and means the world to us and your children.

Of course, after all that hard work comes the well-earned fun! Tomorrow, Year 6 are off to London for the day – a chance to relax and celebrate – and then next the fun continues with the rest of Activity Week!

Looking ahead, we also have an exciting week in store for the rest of the school:

  • On Wednesday, our youngest children in Reception will be heading over to RAPS to take part in the launch of the Viking Games 2025.

  • On Thursday morning, Chilton will play host to Key Stage 1 children from across the Viking Trust as they join us for more Viking Games festivities.

  • Then on Friday, it’s time to celebrate individuality and creativity with our 'Dress to Express' Day. Children are invited to wear their most expressive, colourful, or fun outfits – a lovely way to round off the final week of Term 5!

Once again, thank you for being part of such a supportive and joyful school community. This week has reminded us just how special Chilton is, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back on Monday for another exciting week to finish the term in style.

Have a restful weekend,

Warm wishes,

Mr McAuley
