One Childhood, One Chance

Head's Up 5th September 2025

Dear Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful summer break with your children. Whilst the holidays were a chance for everyone to recharge, we are absolutely thrilled to be back – we really did miss the children while we were away! Thank you so much for supporting your children with the transition back into school life; it has been a calm and focussed start to the academic year and we couldn’t be prouder of the way the children have settled back in.

One of the big pieces of news this term is that Chilton now has a brand-new P.E. t-shirt! This was finalised towards the end of last year, which meant it was ready to launch over the summer. It is already wonderful to see so many children wearing them – they look fantastic and will be a vital part of the Chilton uniform moving forward. For now, if your child is wearing a plain white t-shirt for P.E., that is absolutely fine; white t-shirts will continue to function alongside the new Chilton P.E. tops this year. Thank you to everyone who has already purchased one!

Even more exciting is that Chilton is celebrating its 50th birthday this term! The school first opened its doors in 1975 and has been at the heart of this wonderful community for half a century. Many of you not only have children here now, but also came here yourselves or have family members who once learned or worked here. To mark this incredible milestone, we will be holding a special open evening on Wednesday 25th September, welcoming pupils and staff both past and present. Please see the letter attached to this week’s messages for further details.

Families may have noticed the cones which have been set out on Chilton Lane this week. These act as a polite reminder of the parking restrictions that exist on Chilton Lane to ensure that the road is able to keep flowing and, most importantly, to keep children safe. I kindly ask that all families respect these restrictions and choose safer locations without restrictions when parking near the school.

Looking ahead, next week will see the resumption of clubs, as well as swimming and, of course, Wake and Shake on Wednesday morning – I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for good weather!

Thank you once again for such a wonderful first week back. I wish you all a fantastic weekend, and we can’t wait to see the children again on Monday, ready for another exciting week at Chilton.

Best wishes,
Mr McAuley
