Dear Families,

Thank you all for such a wonderful week at Chilton.

A special thank you to everyone who took part in World Book Day celebrations. Thursday was an incredible day across the school, and it was made even more special when we received a shout-out from the one and only Michael Rosen himself! It was a brilliant moment for our school community and one that the children will remember for a long time.

The costumes the children wore were absolutely fantastic. It was wonderful to see such creativity and enthusiasm, and the range of characters really showcased the depth and breadth of books that our children enjoy reading. We hope you enjoyed seeing all the photographs that we shared on our social media pages — the joy and excitement from the day really shone through.

It has also been lovely this week to feel a little sunshine on our faces. After a long winter, it really does feel as though spring is in the air, and the children have certainly been making the most of being outdoors when they can.

I would also like to make you aware that over the next couple of weeks we will be welcoming a large number of visitors to Chilton. On Tuesday next week and the Tuesday that follows, we will have up to 20 schools visiting on each day. As many of you know, we were selected by the Department for Education (DfE) to be a Lead Hub School for the South East region. Because of this, schools from across the region will be visiting to learn from the outstanding practice here at Chilton, particularly around attendance and behaviour.

This means your children will see a number of visitors around the school during these days and in the weeks ahead. They always represent our school brilliantly, and I know they will make us proud as they show visitors what makes Chilton such a special place to learn.

For me, it is a real privilege to lead a school that is recognised as one of the top 90 schools in England (out of almost 17,000 schools nationally). I hope this recognition continues to strengthen the confidence you have in our staff and in the work we do every day to give your child — or children — the very best education and school experience possible.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school next week.

Warm regards,
Mr McAuley
