Year 3 have enjoyed a wonderful week to end Term 5. Here's what they have been up to:
Maths
In Maths this week, we have been looking at fractions. We learned that you can only add and subtract 'like' fractions and when you do this, the denominator doesn't change. We then solved a range of fraction problems. Next term, we will be looking at Subtraction, Fractions, Multiplication & Division, Measure, Statistics and Shape.
English
This week, we finished the story of Charlotte's Web which we all really enjoyed. In our writing, we focused on direct speech, first writing correctly punctuated sentences then varying our 'said' verbs before building in action around our speech. Next term, we will be reading 'The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane'. We will be writing diary entries, narratives and non-chronological reports.
Thematic
This week, we have been completing RE, looking at the importance of the Bible to Christians. We also completed a Computing day, learning how to programme and sequence sounds and motions on Scratch (Scratch is free to use and children are welcome to have a go at home and send in their projects to their teachers - we'd love to see them!). Thank you to all the parents who attended the Be Here, Be You, Belong parade today. We all had a wonderful time! Next term, our Thematic unit will be 'Rainforests'.
There is no home learning set for the half term break - enjoy some rest, relaxation and, hopefully, some sun!
Have a wonderful week and we will see you on Monday 2nd June!
