What a wonderful week Year 3 have had this week to kickstart Term 6! Well done to Team Aqua for winning class of the week and to both Team Aqua and Team Topaz for sharing the attendance cup! 

Maths 
In Maths this week, we have been revisiting subtraction. We looked at how to use the bar model to help us understand subtraction problems and how to use different methods to subtract. We then moved on to a solve a range of missing number based subtraction problems. Next week, we will be looking at fractions and multiplication. 

English
This week, we started reading our Term 6 text, ' The Magical Journey of Edward Tulane'. We created a poster to persuade people to buy Edward, using expanded noun phrases and superlatives. Then, we wrote from Abilene to her parents using modal verbs and persuasive language to persuade them to buy the toy for her. We did this in pairs before editing and improving ourselves. Next week, we will be looking at viewpoint. 

Thematic
 This week, we have been looking at PSHE and the importance of unkindness. We explored the lyrics to the Sugababes song 'Ugly' before ranking incidents of unkindness and coming up with advice for certain feelings that may lead to unkindness. We also started our Term6 painting unit in Art and looked at days of the week in French.

On Thursday, Years 3 and 4 travelled to Upton to take part in the annual Viking Games. A great time was had by all and there was wonderful collaboration between the three schools shown. The winner will be announced next week!

Home learning

For home learning this week, please could children either find a song (like how we looked at Sugababes's Ugly this week) that gives a message of kindness and explain why they have chosen that song or could children write their own pop song that gives a message of kindness.
