Year 3 have had another amazing week this week. Here's what we've been up to.
Math
In Maths this week, we have spent time learning how to find tenths, how to count in tenths and how to multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000. We used place value sliders to help us complete these multiplications. Next week, we will be looking at tenths as decimals, multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000 including tenths as decimals and converting measures.
English
This week, we have continued reading our Term 6 text, ' The Magical Journey of Edward Tulane' and were shocked when Edward was thrown overboard! We have been focusing on writing in viewpoint, completing writes as Abilene when she lost Edward and the boys who lost him about how it was an accident. We have focused on using a range of simple, compound and complex sentences. Next week, we will be writing setting descriptions.
Thematic
This week, we started our amazing Term 6 Thematic unit on rainforests. We had a brilliant VR experience on Monday where we were able to visit the Amazonian rainforest. We then learnt what plants need to survive before planting a range of seeds to test this. We then dissected a flower and learnt what each of the different parts did. We also completed some observational drawings of some orchids whilst considering the question, 'are all plants the same?'. Thanks to all the parents who came to see our drawings.
Congratulations to the Viking Games winners...... RED ROMANS!
Home learning
For home learning this week, please could children choose any plant and research it. Where does it live? What does it look like? etc. This learning can be presented in any creative way of the children's choosing.
