Weekly News 2/05/25

What a busy but fun week we have had in the sunshine in Year 5.
English
This week, we have continued to write descriptions, but this week we have been focusing on setting descriptions. We have used prepositional phrases, different sentence openers and descriptive vocabulary when describing a workhouse.
Next term, we are going to be writing a narrative using dialogue.
Maths
This week, we have continued to work on angles. Looking at how to find missing angles on a straight line and a point.
Next week, we are focusing on scaling using different recipes to help us. We will be using multiplication when scaling up and division when scaling down.
Thematic
This week, we have been learning about Ramsgate’s history. We began the week by looking at the famous landmarks we saw on our trip. We understand why they were important and what they represented. We also looked at how the little ship ‘Tamzin’ is part of Ramsgate’s rich history. Next week in Thematic, we are going on a local walk to look at sea defences and human and physical features of geography.
Love to Learn
Next week in PSHE we are going to be looking at how important it is to be an individual and have our own qualities throughout ‘Be Here Be You Belong’. We would like you to create something that best represents you. It could be a piece of artwork, a story about yourself. It is up to you!
Can you also practise the spellings below.
5th May – Bank Holiday
6th May Local walk to Ramsgate artificial beach, wear trainers
6th May – Thrive Coffee Afternoon at 3.30pm
19th May – Year 5 CAT tests this week
23rd May – Be you, Be here, Belong celebration. Children can come to school wearing anything they feel represents them as part of our ‘Dress to Express’ day. We will have a parade at 2pm on the field to celebrate this, to which our families are all invited.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Isaac, Mrs King and Mr Cook
