Weekly News! 6/6/25

What a fantastic start to Term 6! It has been amazing to see the amazing smiles on the faces again.
English
This week, we have started looking at a short film called ‘The Piano’. Throughout the film, there is an elderly man playing the piano on his own. During the video, it shows the man’s memories throughout his life. For example, his late wife joins him and there is memories of him at war. We have concentrated on emotive language and the effect it has on the reader.
Next week, we will be continuing with the Piano, looking at his flashbacks and how emotive language can be applied.
Maths
This week, we have been learning about position and direction. We began the week by recapping plotting coordinates on quadrants. We then finished the week by translating shapes on a grid.
Next week, we will be recapping geometry. Concentrating on diagonal lines and right angles and finding missing angles in rectangles.
PSHE
This week, we started our topic called ‘Our words can hurt’. We looked at online safety and how some of the things that can be said online can be just as hurtful if not worse than in person. We also discussed the difference between online trolls and keyboard warriors and what we can do to deal with these situations.
Love to Learn
For this week's Love to Learn, inspired by the song ‘ugly’ by the Sugarbabes. Write your own song lyrics about the PSHE we have learnt this week. If you don’t want to write your own lyrics, find a song and use those lyrics.
