Weekly News! 11.07.25

Thank you all so much for your continued support. We had an absolutely amazing first sport’s day, and despite the heat the children truly shone.
RWI
This week, the children have truly showcased all the writing skills they have developed throughout the year, and we couldn’t be prouder!
As part of our theme on dinosaurs, the children had the opportunity to write independently about their favourite dinosaurs. It has been a joy to see them apply their learning by remembering to use capital letters, full stops, and finger spaces. In addition, we were particularly impressed with the exciting vocabulary they employed and the way they structured their own sentences. Each child has made remarkable progress, and their enthusiasm for writing is truly wonderful to see!
Maths
This week in our classroom, we’ve had an exciting focus on the concept of time as part of our maths exploration!
We began our journey by listening to the delightful story of ‘The Grouchy Ladybird’. This engaging tale sparked a wonderful discussion about the different activities we do at various times throughout the day. It was heart-warming to see the children enthusiastically share their daily routines and the significance of time in their lives.
To reinforce our understanding of time, the children had the opportunity to create their very own dinosaur clocks! This hands-on activity not only made learning fun but also allowed the children to practice telling the time in a playful and interactive manner. They truly enjoyed this creative task, and we encourage you to ask them about their clocks at home!
Additionally, we revisited the story of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’. This classic tale provided a splendid platform for us to order the days of the week together. Encouraging our little ones to recognise the sequence of days is crucial for their understanding of time, and I was thrilled to see their excitement at this activity.
Thematic
This week, we enjoyed listening to the delightful story "Harry and His Bucketful of Dinosaurs." The children were enthralled by Harry's adventures, and it sparked some fantastic discussions. Following the story, we created informative posters focused on safety. We reinforced important messages about holding hands when crossing roads and staying close to our adults so we don’t get lost.
In our maths sessions last week, we introduced sequencing words, which we have now applied to recount the story of Harry and his dinosaur friends. This not only helped the children sharpen their maths skills but also encouraged them to think critically about the narrative structure.
To wrap up our dinosaur theme, we held a quiz to review everything we've learned this term. The children showed remarkable enthusiasm and knowledge, demonstrating just how much they've absorbed about these magnificent creatures.
