
What a fantastic start to Year 3! It has been absolutely wonderful to see you all and welcome you all back to Year 3! We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm you have all returned with. Year 3 is going to be another exciting year for us all.
Maths
During our maths lessons this week, we have learnt to partition 3 digit numbers and find 1, 10 and 100 more and less than a given number. Next week, we will be using partitioning and number lines to add.
English
This week in English, we have read How to Clean a Woolly Mammoth, we looked learned how to use time conjunctions to begin instructions we also used imperative verbs (bossy words) within our instructions. Next week, we will begin to read Stone Age Boy. We will be writing our own Non-fiction text, we will be focusing on using different sentence types in our writing.
PSHE
This week we have learnt more about what it means to be a member of Team Chilton, we have thought about the meaning of ‘One Childhood, One Chance’, the Chilton Values and The Chilton Way and what they look like at school and how we can show them. Next week, we will be begin our Thematic learning for the term Prehistory Rocks! We will start by looking at timelines and how they can help us place significant periods of history.
Home Learning
This week we would like you to decorate your Home Learning books. If you have any photos from the Summer Holidays you would like to stick in we would love to see them!
Term 1 Dates for the Diary
16th September – Year 3 special visitor
17th September – Meet and greet for years 3 and 4 from 8.45am-9am in your child’s classroom. This is an opportunity to meet your child’s teaching team and get to hear about what to expect in the year ahead
25th September – Chilton School’s 50th Birthday (please see separate letters for details on how we will be celebrating this)
26th September – Thrive coffee morning 9am-10.30am in the studio – a chance to meet our well-being team
6th October – Year 3 trip to Pegwell (more information to follow)
7th October –2.45pm Year 3 Harvest assembly
17th October – Final day of term
