Weekly News – 13.10.25

What a wonderful Term 1, well done Year 3! We have finished a great term of learning with a combination of teamwork activities in PE, learning about Diwali in RE and learning to tell the time.
Maths
In Maths, we have been learning to tell the time; we have recapped o’clock and half past and then moved on to quarter to and quarter past. We have also started to tell the time in 5-minute intervals. Next term, we will start learning about fractions of amounts, shapes and objects.
English
In English, we have been writing our own narratives; we have focused on using verbs and adverbs, and using paragraphs throughout our narrative. Next term, we will be starting a new text ‘The Green Ship’ by Quentin Blake.
Thematic
Next term in Thematic we will be introducing Feel the Force, See the Light. We will start by answering our Big Question: Can you feel the force? Can you see the light?
Home Learning
Your main job this half term is to have a wonderful week with your family. However, on the 13th November it is World Kindness Day. We have sent home a folded piece of card; the children need to design a card and give it to someone to share a little kindness. This could be a thank you card or just a note to check in with someone

TTRS
Ideally, children should aim to play for 5-10 minutes each day, the expectation is that by the end of Year 3 children will know the 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 and 8 times tables. TTRS is designed to be a fun way of learning times tables. TTRS is broken down into 8 game types.
Gig – this creates a heatmap to show times tables knowledge up to 12x12
Garage – this is a teacher set times tables game. Please complete this at home.
Jamming – a game to develop times tables confidence
Studio - games the are aimed at motivating (how many can you do in a set time etc) after 10 games this will give a rock status.
Festival and Arena – you can compete against other children from other schools
Rock Slam – you can choose to challenge anyone from within the school (adults and children)
Have a wonderful week!
