Weekly News – 17.11.25

We have had a wonderful week of learning, this week have learnt about light and darkness in Thematic, we have been adding and subtracting length in Maths as well as writing our own narratives in English. It has been a busy week!
Maths
In Maths this week, we have learnt how to measure accurately with a ruler, we then moved on to converting between, millimetres and centimetres and centimetres and meters. Next week, we will continue our learning of measure and move onto measuring mass and reading scales.
English
This week in English, we have been writing narratives, we have used The Green Ship to focus our writing an made up an alternative ending. We have been learning to vary the way we start our sentences, write in the past tense and trying to use co-ordinating conjunctions in our writing. Next week, we will start our new book The Princess and the White Bear King.
Thematic
This week in Thematic we have learnt about light, reflection and the different types of light that can and can’t see. Next week, we will be investigating what makes a good pair of sunglasses.
Home Learning
This week, we would like you to find as many reflective surfaces as possible in your home, make a list or take some pictures and pop them in your Love to Learn book.

TTRS
Ideally, children should aim to play for 5-10 minutes each day, the expectation is that by the end of Year 3 children will know the 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 and 8 times tables. TTRS is designed to be a fun way of learning times tables. TTRS is broken down into 8 game types.
Gig – this creates a heatmap to show times tables knowledge up to 12x12
Garage – this is a teacher set times tables game. Please complete this at home.
Jamming – a game to develop times tables confidence
Studio - games the are aimed at motivating (how many can you do in a set time etc) after 10 games this will give a rock status.
Festival and Arena – you can compete against other children from other schools
Rock Slam – you can choose to challenge anyone from within the school (adults and children)
Have a wonderful weekend!
