Weekly News – 23.01.26

Year 3 have had a wonderful week of learning. We have been bird watching, exploring suspense in our writing, and learning ways to greet people in French.
Maths
In Maths this week, we have learnt to regroup when adding, and what an incredible job Year 3 have done at that! Next week, we are going to be developing our subtraction skills.
Well done for a great effort in the TTRS Battle this week!
English
This week in English, we have been learning techniques to add suspense to a narrative. In Week 4, we will be learning how to weave action and dialogue into our writing.
Thematic
In Thematic this week, we have been learning all about skeletons, vertebrates and invertebrates, as well as how our joints and muscles work. Next week in Thematic, we are going to be moving on to Design and Technology, learning about links and levers.
RSPB Big Garden BirdWatch
This week, the whole school is took part in the Big Schools' BirdWatch to collect data for the RSPB. We are inviting you to take part at home too. Here's what you need to do:
1. Choose an hour between 23 and 25 January 2026
2, Only record the birds that land in your garden
3. Record the highest number of each bird species you see at any one time
4. Sign up online and submit your results to the RSPB. Here's the link: Big Garden Birdwatch

Bird Wise East Kent and Thanet Coast Project have teamed up to host a photography competition. There is a category for under 18s with the winner and runner up having their work displayed in Margate, Whitstable and Ramsgate. The deadline is midnight on Sunday 15th February.
