What a fantastic start to Year 3! It has been absolutely wonderful to see you all and welcome you all back to Year 3! We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm you have all returned with. Year 3 is going to be another exciting year for us all.

Maths

During our Maths lessons next week, we will be learning to partition 3 digit numbers in different ways.

English

Next week in English we will be looking at simple and compound sentences, we will also explore the features of an instruction text as this links to our first book of this term, How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth by Michelle Robinson.

PSHE

This week we have learnt all about our new Culture Policy, we have thought about what this will look like in the classroom and around the school. We have completed lots of activities to remind us of the Chilton Rule:

Be Ready - Ready to learn, Ready to listen, Ready to join in

Be Respectful - Respect ourselves, Respect others, Respect our environment

Be Safe - Keep ourselves safe, Keep others safe, Keep feelings safe

We have thought about responsibility and how we should be taking responsibility for our actions.

Home Learning

This week we would like you to decorate your Home Learning books. If you have any photos from the Summer Holidays you would like to stick in we would love to see them!

7th September – Year 5 and 6 Meet the teacher at 2.45pm - This is an opportunity to meet your child’s teaching team and get to hear about what to expect in the year ahead.

8th September – Year 1 and 2 Meet the teacher at 2.45pm - This is an opportunity to meet your child’s teaching team and get to hear about what to expect in the year ahead.

9th September – Reception begin school full time

9th September – Year 5 Swimming begins

9th September -Year 3 and 4 Meet the teacher at 2.45pm - This is an opportunity to meet your child’s teaching team and get to hear about what to expect in the year ahead.

10th September – Kent Test for Year 6

14th -17th September – Year 6 go to Carroty Wood

16th September – No Year 5 swimming this week, they will have PE in school in place of swimming

18th September – Welcome to Reception parents meeting in hall at 2.30pm

23rd September – Year 5 swimming every Wednesday until end of term

25th September – Chilton Fundraisers Family Quiz (more details to follow from the Chilton Fundrasiers)

6th October – Harvest Festival for Reception at 9am and year 3 at 2.45pm

7th October - Harvest Festival for Year 2 at 9am and year 1 at 2.45pm

8th October - Harvest Festival for Year 4 at 9am and year 5 and 6 at 2.45pm

15th October – Kent Test Results out to parents

23rd October – Halloween Disco – All children come to school in fancy dress. Year 1, 2 and 3 Disco from 2pm-3pm and year 4, 5 and 6 disco from 3.15-4.15

23rd October – Final day of term 1
