Weekly News! 31.10.25
What a fantastic start to Term 2. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and so many adults at PTC’s this week.
Maths
This week, we’ve been exploring equivalent fractions. The children have done brilliantly at identifying and shading fractions that are equal, and they’ve been using multiplication and division to find and check their equivalents. It’s been great to see how confidently they can now explain why two fractions are the same!
Next week, we’ll be moving on to finding fractions of amounts and comparing fractions, which will build on all the great work we’ve done so far.
English
We have started our brand new book, Ice Palace, which has really captured the children’s imaginations! This week, we’ve focused on using expanded noun phrases, verbs, and adverbs to describe the beautiful but mysterious wintry scenes from the story. The children have created some truly atmospheric descriptions.
Next week, we’ll continue to develop our descriptive writing by exploring similes, metaphors, and personification to make our writing even more powerful.
Thematic
Our new topic has begun! The children have loved diving into the world of Ancient Egypt. This week, we looked at where Ancient Egypt fits within other eras of history and discussed just how important the River Nile was to the Egyptian people.
Next week, we’ll be finding out all about Pharaohs and the gods and goddesses the Ancient Egyptians worshipped — a topic the children are already very excited about!
Spellings
Next week, we will be spellings words with the suffix -ly
Quickly, jokingly, normally, gracefully, finally, dramatically, differently
CHALLENGE WORDS – aggressively, fearfully, outrageously
Love to Learn
Our love to learn this week is to practice your spellings, TTRS and read 4 times a week.
Can you also create your own villain character like Starjik, it can have its own powers and think about how it can cause havoc to villages just like Starjik does!
