Weekly News 12.12.25

What a wonderful week we have had in Year 4. Despite the rainy weather, we have begun our Christmas festivities with a wonderful Christmas Fair, lots of Christmas poetry and many a practice for the Christmas Church performance!
English
In English we have been learning to use rhyming patterns in our poetry. We had another try at using rhyming couplets and the children did fantastically well. We then had a try at writing poems with an ABAB rhyming structure; this was quite tricky but the children amazed us yet again and wrote some incredible poems.
Maths
In maths this week we have been learning about mass. Using the key knowledge that 1kg is equal to 1000g, the children converted between units e.g. 3000g = 3kg, 7500g = 7 1/2 kg or 9 1/4 kg = 9250kg. We also solved word problems that involved converting units of mass. Next week we will be doing some Christmas problem solving.
RE
In RE this week we have been learning about Christianity and the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem. We found out about the 3 wise men and the shepherds who visited Jesus after he was born, and we made some fantastic collages of the 3 wise men. Here are some of the collages we made...
