We hope you had a lovely summer and we welcome you back to the new academic year. Year 5 have started the term with fantastic attitudes and energy. We are so excited for the year ahead!

We have spent our time this week learning about some of the changes to our Culture Policy and exploring how our Chilton Way rules underpin everything we do: Be Safe. Be Ready. Be Respectful. A lot of time was spent understanding the new policy and how positive reinforcement and relationships are at the core of what we do.  Logical consequences were also discussed in line with what would happen if a Stop and Share were to occur.

The children also explored responsibility, kindness and relationships through a variety of different tasks, such as drama, LEGO modelling (to build a structure that symbolised strong relationships including parts representing communication, trust, collaboration etc), partner discussions and art work. Work was also undertaken on emotions and the strategies the children can use to help them depending on how they are feeling. We also gave the children time to look at the regulation station.

Home Learning

The children have not been set any home learning for the week ahead apart from choosing a reading for pleasure book to read until they receive their ZPD score from their upcoming STAR assessment which will be planned in over the next couple of weeks.
