Maths
In Maths this week, we looked at the place value of a range of numbers, up to ten million. Additionally, we explored the resources that are used to support our learning. We wrote, said and read the numbers and partitioned them in a range of ways. Next week, we will be rounding numbers, finding strategies to round larger numbers in different ways. We will also see how negative numbers get smaller the further from zero you go.
English
We have enjoyed our introduction to our new text, 'Way Home'. The children asked questions about what they had read and wrote a setting description of a dark, dingy alleyway, using figurative language to engage our readers. Next week, as we read more of the text, we learn more about the main character, Shane. From this, we will research homelessness and the effects of it.
Thematic
This week has had a PSHE focus, where we re-established the Chilton Way rules and discussed the zones of regulation. Afterwards, we role-played scenarios where we considered our manners. As part of our Thrive, we learned the new skill of juggling. This was incredibly fun... with a variety of successes! Next week, the children will be introduced to our first topic, Darwin's Delights.
