Important Messages
End of Term 1 will finish on Friday 17th October at 15:15.
Parents will be welcome to see our English, Maths and Thematic books on Tuesday 14th October at 15:00 prior to Parent Teacher Consultations early next term.
A reminder that children will be going to Discovery Park next Friday morning. Children will be back for lunch. They will be attending the Big STEM challenge and judging the competitors.
English
This week, we have read more of Floodland. As we have been introduced to more characters, we used dialogue as a way to show characterisation and understand what they are like. We also weaved action into our writing and used drama as a way to better understand the characters. Next week, we will be writing a non-chronological report on Climate Change, which is linked to our text.
Maths
We have enjoyed challenging ourselves with square and cube numbers. As well as this, we worked to understand division using a suitable method. Next week, we will move on to division with remainders.
Thematic
We thoroughly loved learning about Inheritance. The children asked lots of questions and worked together to consider whether characteristics are inherited, environmental or both. For example, eye colour is inherited from our parents; scars are environmental (from an accident for example); height could be both inherited or dependent on the nutrients we take in. We also had fun classifying animals in our own way using a tree diagram that we were introduced to last week.
