Important Messages
We hope you have a wonderful half term break. School resumes Tuesday 28th October.
The children enjoyed their reward for reaching 100 AR quizzes. There has been a lot of reading and quizzing so well done! Remember, the expectation is 10 minutes a day for at least 4 times a week.
On Friday, we also visited Discovery Park where we got to see inside working laboratories. In this time, we were able to ask questions to scientists who told us about their work with yeast and bacteria (which linked to this term's learning). As well as this, we were able to take part in interactive sessions which were lots of fun (including making your own catapult!)

English
In English this week, we read more of our fun text, 'Floodland'. We retrieved information through comprehension tasks and wrote using verbs and adverbs as sentence openers. In this way, ambitious vocabulary focuses on action: the children thought considered the language to depict a fight between two characters. As we read on, we painted a battle scene using red paint for blood. It was really gory!

Maths
The children have worked further on division, this week focusing on remainders. At the start of the week, the children expressed their remainders as whole numbers or decimals before solving problems where they had to interpret the remainders. To further challenge children, they reasoned to help them apply their understanding.
Thematic
We have enjoyed learning about Hinduism during our RE Week. After listening to and reading stories from Hindu culture, the children acted them out. This helped them have a better grasp of the story. The children understood that Brahma can take on many forms, including Krishna, who shared his character through stories. The children also summarised the story of Rama and Sita and considered how Rama showed forgiveness to the Demon King. They discussed why Hindus value truth (Satya) and talked through different scenarios, explaining what they would do in each.
