  2. Please can the children bring a strong carrier bag into school by Thursday 13th November.  The children will be bringing their old year 5 books home.

  3. We have also set a MyON reading challenge for the Year 6 children.  We would like them to read one or both books set on MyOn that are about Vikings! Click here to access MyOn https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html The children’s AR username and Password will let them access MyOn. This home learning can be completed at any point this term.

Messages

Team Cyan successfully moved classrooms on Friday!  The children will still arrive and leave via the same Year 6 entrance.

Please can the children bring in wellies for their outdoor play at lunchtime.

This week, the children learnt more about the characters in the book Skellig.  They spent time describing ‘the man in the garage’, focusing on his appearance, personality and how he speaks.  In their SPaG lessons, the children revisited compound sentences and that two simple sentences are joined together with a coordinating conjunction.

Reading for Pleasure

The children looked at nursery rhymes this week and their true meanings!

Maths

This week, the children worked hard to show their understanding of time.  Analogue, digital, 12 and 24 hour time and then problems linked to time.  Next week, the children will look at fractions next week.

Thematic

This week we learnt more about the Vikings.  The children made Viking ships and learnt why and where they invaded.  The children then learnt about the Danelaw and how the Vikings arrived and what they raided! Next week, the children will learn about safer relationships in their PSHE lessons.
