This week the children have finished their alternative ending to the book Skellig. They focused on adding action, description and dialogue as well as planning and writing an appropriate ending. In Reading for Pleasure, the children all took part in a Christmas-themed Christmas song lyric sing-a-long!

Maths

Year 6 spent a week learning about bar charts and line graphs.  They have also learnt how to calculate Mean, Mode and Range when interpreting data.

Mean = find the average by adding all the values together and dividing the total by the number of values. Mode = the most value.

Range = The difference between the highest and lowest value.

Thematic

Year 6 finished their topic – My Country, My Home this week.  However, Year 6 ended their week by having a look at some owl pellets that had been kindly donated to us by Miss Isaac (Chilton’s Science Lead).  The children learnt what an owl pellet is, how they are made and what is inside.  Owl pellets are linked to children’s English learning and their book Skellig where owl pellets are mentioned many times. Next week,  Year 6 will return to their RE topic – Christianity.
