Home Learning
We would like the children to show their understanding of fractions or decimals. They can choose to show the following: adding or subtracting fractions, multiplying fractions, dividing fractions or how to convert a fraction into a decimal. The children can present their learning any way they wish and can even video themselves! If they choose this option, please email their videos to their class teacher:

Important Year 6 message
We have booked five trips for our Year 6 children this year. A letter has been sent to you via MCAS detailing these trips and the total cost. A copy of the letter is at the bottom of this page too.
Whole school message Science and Art
Science - Hello Chilton families,
This week, the whole school is took part in the Big Schools' BirdWatch to collect data for the RSPB. We are inviting you to take part at home too. Here's what you need to do:
1. Choose an hour between 23 and 25 January 2026
2, Only record the birds that land in your garden
3. Record the highest number of each bird species you see at any one time
4. Sign up online and submit your results to the RSPB. Here's the link: Big Garden Birdwatch

If you are fan of being out in nature and would like to show off your photography skills, you might be interested in the competition outlined below:
Bird Wise East Kent and Thanet Coast Project have teamed up to host a photography competition. There is a category for under 18s with the winner and runner up having their work displayed in Margate, Whitstable and Ramsgate. The deadline is midnight on Sunday 15th February. English
This week, Year 6 spent time describing Leon's place between. The children used ambitious vocabulary, figurative language and ambitious punctuation. They spent time on Friday publishing their writing in the book's same style. The children have now finished this book and will move on to a film narrative next week - Alma. Maths
Year 6 revisited fractions this week, focusing on multiplying fractions, dividing fractions, adding / subtracting fractions and converting fractions into decimals. Next week the children will move on to percentages and percentages of amounts.
Thematic
This week, Year 6 learnt more about the human body and focused on the circulatory and digestive systems. The children also learnt what a nutrient is and what nutrients our bodies need and how our body absorbs them. As part if their art lessons, the children have learnt how to quill and have used these skills to create a quilled human heart.
