Home Learning  

  1. Advance notice – Wednesday 25th  March – Year 6 WW2 Dress Up Day.  The children are invited to dress up in WW2 costume 

 

  1. We would like the children to research about what food were rationed during WW2.  The children can present their learning any way they wish!   

 

  1. We would like the children to practise the following spellings – pluralised nouns This home learning is due in by Friday 20th March 

story - stories 

pony - ponies 

memory - memories 

dry - dries 

dress - dresses 

try - tries 

box - boxes 

wish - wishes 

church - churches 

wash - washes 

 

  1. Year 6 will be learning about WW2 in Term 4 and 5 so we have set some home reading challenges on MYON about this subject - The children have a whole term to complete this task. https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html

Friday 20th March – Red Nose Day (Wear something funny for money) 

Monday 23rd March – Rock your socks for Downs Syndrome Awareness (Wear bright or mismatching socks to school) 

Wednesday 25th March – Year 6 WW2 Dress Up Day 

March – Viking Speaker Final at Royal Harbour 

Friday 27th March – Parents come into school to look at children’s books prior to Parent Teacher Consultations 

Week Beginning 30th March – Parent Teacher consultation week 

Thursday 2nd April – Chilton Fundraisers Sponsored Eggscellent Event - Non-Uniform to be worn with further details to follow next term. 

Thursday 2nd April - Last day of term. School to finish at 3.15pm 

English 

This week, Year 6 have returned to writing a newspaper showing either a positive or a negative bias based on the family in the book Kensuke’s Kingdom.  The children used: the 5Ws, parenthesis to add extra information and direct and indirect speech.  Next week, the children will be writing in role to narrate he family's journey around the world.  

Maths 

This week, Year 6 returned to area and focused on area of four sided shapes and triangles. We have also spent time on their retrieval practice and returned to the perimeter of compound shapes. Next week, Year 6 will learn about pie charts and how to analyse data.   

Thematic 

This week, Year 6 learnt about how children were evacuated in WW2, rationing and bomb shelters.  Next week, year 6 will have a special visitor come into talk to them about their family memories from WW2.
