English

This week, we have been able to complete our class text, 'Kensuke's Kingdom'.  This has been a Year group favourite!  We wrote in role as Michael as he sent a message in a bottle: we enjoyed using a tea-staining technique to make the paper look distressed before writing using emotive language to write a cry for help from Michael.  Next term, we will be using the text as inspiration to learn about the effects of palm oil.

Maths

The children used their knowledge of 3D shape to draw using isometric paper.  As the children discovered, this was harder than they first thought: they had to get their angles right to try to write their names using a 3D technique.  As well as this, the children worked as a team to solve mathematical problems in an orienteering activity.  We also played maths games thoughout the week.

Thematic

In RE, we learnt about how Sikhs work with their communities to support each other.  We learnt that Sikhs believe in good and bad karma and that they act kindly in order to achieve mukti (one with god).  We drew a Langar scene (where Sikhs daily welcome in all people for a free meal in the gurdwara) and created and played fun board games based on good and bad karma.

On Monday, we enjoyed participating in the Viking Games:

Love to Learn

Over the holiday, we would like you to consider which role you would like for our Year 6 production, 'The Greatest Showman'.  Next term, we will be auditioning for speaking roles, main parts, dancing and singing sequences, backstage crew and non-speaking roles.
