Children have been told what they will need to wear on the day.  Please bring them in by Monday 29th June in a named carrier bag.

English

In English this week, we watched a short animation about a little girl who runs through the Pere LaChaise cemetery in Paris, where she has a piano lesson with the composer Alfred Chopin!  After this, we wrote the narrative, including ambitious language for the setting description as well as a range of punctuation and adverbials to move the story on.  Next week, we will watch a clip of the BFG and write about a conversation exchange between the giant and the Queen, focusing on formality and style of voice.

Thematic

We have enjoyed Science Week this week, where we first gathered evidence to learn about how light travels.  Here, we began to understand that refraction bends light and this can create a spectrum as the white light disperses into the colours of the rainbow.  The following day, after learning about the impact of the scientists Nikolas Tesla and Rachel Oliver OBE and explored electrical circuits to see if we could make our own switches and change the brightness of a bulb.  Our art work had a PSHE fous, where the children were inspired by the artists Henry Moore and Jeff Koons to create a clay sculpture to show 'Your Words Can Hurt':

On Monday, we visited Boonies and had a LOT of fun getting muddy, wet and dirty on the obstacle course.  On Thursday, we visited Pfizer Discovery Park for a Science Jamboree, where we watched a fun demonstration of nitrogen boiling at -196 degrees Celsius and took part in some workshops where we build bridges (earning record time), tasted tomatoes and saw the effects of surface tension in milk:

Love to Learn

We would appreciate it if you could continue to learn your lines for our performance (if you have them) and practise our songs.  We would also like you to start to gather your costumes for the performance.  Children have been told what they will need to wear on the day.  Please bring them in by Monday 29th June in a named carrier bag.
