English

Year 6 have started their new book, Floodland.  They have predicated, clarified and summarised what they have read so far.  They have spent time this week writing letters as the characters Zoe and Natasha focusing on emotive language and modal verbs and how both the characters felt at the start of the text.

Maths

This week, the children have returned to Place Value, focusing on numbers up to 10 million and ordering and comparing.  The children also explored our wonderful new maths resources.

PSHE

Our PSHE focused on our school values paying a particular focus on kindness and courage. As a year group we looked at the text: Maurice The Unbeastly – a text about courage and being yourself.  We also explored the text Amelia Bedelia which is a story about kindness. The children took part in a number of discussions about kindness towards ourselves and others and what courage is and what it means to be courageous, especially in Year 6.
